The Audi R10's ultra high-tech diesel powerplants (with the associated mega torque figure, hence the title) only rev to a fraction of what a typical petrol unit would do and so the noise of these cars is drowned out by every other motor out there. It truly is incredible - there are road cars out there that would be far louder than these race rockets...

The motion blur makes it feel like the photo is jumping out at me. The gorgeous colours help too. I like how the cars are in focus, but the rest isn't. Gives them a great sense of speed.

One of these days I'm gonna have to start liking this photo as much as everyone else seems to - I put it up because it was the only 'flying in formation' shot I got of the R10s...

Basically I added a radial blur centred on McNish's helmet so the cars appear vaguely in focus while everything else is a blur. Worked pretty well...

Thanks Olly! One would think, given how many people do love it, that I'd have warmed to it by now. Nup. Still not entirely convinced. I'll leave it here because I'm apparently the only one who doesn't really - and I mean really - like it...

Thanks very much! Yeah, trackside is a good place to be. Mind you, I like your gallery - Monaco is a great place for photographing cars...

Thanks very much! It's taken a while for this one to grow on me but I still seem to be the only one who doesn't really like it...

Thanks very much! Apparently I'm the only deviant who doesn't entirely like it...
